Carrie Tree

Biography

Always with the combined urge for travelling, music and freedom (for as long as she remembers) Carrie has from an early age, weaved music into her daily life and experience.

When school was over at 18, Carrie travelled to Australia with a bag, a bunch of songs and a guitar. It was there she recorded her first Album with friends she met, and found the magic of busking, and living day to day through music.
She learnt a lot from other Countries she explored, such as India, America, and other parts of Europe, and is always seeking to combine her life as a musician, with her love for living in nature.

Carrie has been in England for most of the summers the last few years, to play some of the festivals, ( a regular at small world solar stage), where she has become a well known name amongst the fields.
Whilst playing gigs at Glastonbury festival one year, she met Irish singer/songwriter Damien Rice, and later that summer, (with just her and a guitar), she supported his 2003 UK tour, from Glasgow's King Tuts across the Country to London's Shepherds Bush Empire.
Damien was a big inspiration to Carrie and he supported her in the ldea to do things for yourself and keep control of your art.

"After the tour I spent a couple of years on the London music scene, playing many of the great acoustic venue's, like The Bedford Arms, Balham, and The Ginglik, Shepherds Bush. Gigging regularly each week felt so valuable in growing in music and songwriting, and i started to understand the layers of the music industry".
Carrie is part of a non-profit music collaberative 'wupadupa' -a group of independent musiciansand locals from her home town, includingfolk singer/songwriter Martha Tilston, who work together putting on a mixture of shows, and a yearly music festival for Amnesty International.

Through this time in london she worked extensively with Marillion Producer Dave Meegan in his studio, and went on to support Marillion at their own music festival. She is also featured on their album 'Marbles'.
Carrie travelled back to Ireland a couple of times, and supported a musical favourite of hers ' Duke Special' in Belfast, Ireland.

Carrie has worked with some great people since her music career began, and met American musician Ben Taylor, and English singer songwriter David Saw on the london circuit. Becoming good friends and music inspirations for each other, Carrie spent over three months on Martha's Vineyard, USA 2008 .Carrie was welcomed into Ben's Mothers home, the American musical legendCarly Simon, and was very touched by the families incredible generosity and fresh love for music.
They played shows together, sang harmonies for recordings, and toured around parts of America, (including New york, Boston, Asville, Nashville, North Carolina...)

On one trip away from home, Carrie was contacted (through myspace) by Andy Barlow from UK band 'Lamb', who had heard her voice and songs, and wanted to work together.. When Carrie returned home, interested to explore different styles of music, she and Andy began writing and recording in their local town, Brighton.
"Weworked across a year, and set up a working band name to experiment with our combined sound of electonic and acousitc. 'Lunaseeds' was made, and we recorded a collection of songs, and played a few exciting shows around the Country".

So.. this year..
Really eager to complete an album of her own, and to combine the experience gatherered across the years, Carrie worked hard on a collection of recordings over 2008/9, with producer Matt Tweed, and friends Phil Dale, and Sam Welbourne, and is now the happy owner of a finished and released album, 'The Kitchen Table'.
After much thought, Carrie decided to set up and release her album and new EP 'Early Morning Train Ride' on her own label 'Wild Cedar Records' to keep creative independance and freedom. She is selling it on her website - www.carrietree.com, through 'www.wupadupa.com, at live gigs, and in local Brighton stores.

Carrie and her band will be touring her new album across the UK this Autumn/Winter, with a USA tour on the horizon..
